SOFTWARE LOCALIZATION
Website Localization
The explosive growth of the Internet and the World Wide Web has opened up easy access to international markets. Most Internet users will naturally feel more comfortable and understand a company better if their information, products or services are presented in their native language. By undergoing the website localization process you access potentially millions of new customers.
XINYISOFT has gained experience of website localization across many different industries with many different types of application. Our experience includes:
- Very large, single language localization projects to support an organization's strategic entry into Chinese markets
- Integrated global information management across all communication channels, including Web
- Fully outsourced localization of all global content
- E-commerce transactional systems
- Interactive, multimedia content localization
XINYISOFT does not force clients to use a particular tool or methodology for website localization and updates. It offers website localization services with expertise in a variety of platforms, markup and programming languages and web development applications, including:
- Java, JSP, JavaBeans
- ASP, PHP, CSS
- HTML, DHML, XML
- CORBA, CodeFusion, Oracle
- Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access
- Adobe GoLive, Macromedia Dreamweaver, HomeSite, Flash
- IBM WebSphere, VisualAge
- Microsoft FrontPage, Visual Studio
XINYISOFT typically gathers the following information to create a website localization plan:
- A complete directory tree of the live website files
- A list of the pages and graphics to be translated
- Word counts of the text requiring translation. It is very helpful in creating a proposal
- Source files for the graphics requiring translation. If they are not available, our experienced artwork designers can help you to reauthor/recapture the graphics without degrading their original high level of quality.
- Related server-side files that require localization. Any text that a user would see should be considered for localization.
- Details about the character encoding support available on your webserver and through databases you are using. Some databases and servers do not support the multi-byte characters required in Asian languages.
- Source files for any PDF files requiring translation. The source files can be in any format, such as in FrameMaker, Word, QuarkXPress, PageMaker, etc.
- Information about how you want the existing links handled. Should they be changed to refer to localized pages, or noted that they refer to information in English?
- Change management plan. If you are planning on updates, we will utilize translation tools (SDL Trados etc.) that "memorize" the work performed. It will not require a full retranslation of the work for updates to the Website.
- Desired project schedule and final delivery date.
- Reference material from previous localization projects, such as translated glossaries, previously translated text, and style guides.
XINYISOFT has the localization expertise to adapt content technically and culturally, further ensuring the acceptance of websites in Asian markets.
